Mike is a Vice President in our Information Technology Practice who designs and manages major engagements for clients seeking to develop Business to Business and Business to Consumer business strategies based on customer insight and advanced market analytics. Noted for his skill in devising new modeling techniques and seeking innovative applications, Mike is able to integrate multiple data streams and sources of insight in support of varied business applications, including development of new service portfolios and new lines of business, as well as lifecycle management. The marketing problems he routinely addresses include price sensitivity, forecasting, brand equity measurement, and customer experience. He has played a pivotal role in helping clients pursue business opportunities in Cloud computing, Big Data, mobile technologies, and strategic outsourcing. An adept qualitative interviewer as well as a technology subject expert, he has conducted hundreds of interviews with CIOs and other senior executives around the globe, and his uncanny ear for the “voice of the customer” has made him a trusted partner in the design and implementation of a broad range of technology initiatives. On many occasions, clients have relied on Mike’s expertise and insights in developing thought leadership pieces for publication on business applications of IT.
Other industries in which Mike has significant experience include energy, consumer electronics, manufacturing, and manufacturing where he has applied sophisticated modeling techniques to optimize pricing strategies, guide product bundling, optimize targeting and prioritize customer service improvements that drive the greatest increase in satisfaction and loyalty.
Mike also has notable subject matter expertise in text analytics based on numerous publications drawing insights from the statistical fabric of language. He leveraged this experience to lead the firm's development of powerful text analytic models that go well beyond "word clouds" and other standard counting approaches to identify latent markers of brand health that would otherwise be missed.
Prior to joining the firm, Mike was a tenured faculty member of the University of Pennsylvania, where he taught and conducted research for 14 years. A widely published author with over 30 peer-reviewed papers to his credit, Mike’s academic experience in the fields of psychology and psycholinguistics have been a platform for innovative work on behalf of clients, while building the firm’s intellectual capital in advanced methodologies.
Mike received his B.A. from Bucknell University, where he graduated summa cum laude with honors in Psychology and English. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from Cornell University, where he was a National Science Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellow.
